One day of garage sale to go!

Sorry I haven't posted all week... It's been busy!

It's community garage sale time and well, garage sale madnss is in full swing! We spent the past couple weeks getting stuff together, organzing, throwing stuff away, etc. Yesterday was the first day and today is the last day, YAY! It's great to be getting rid of a bunch of stuff but it is a bunch of work, lol. Luckily for us, my mother in law is an expert garage sale "putter-onner." She and my wife's cousin came in on Tuesday to help us put this thing on. Thank the old HP for that! Before we get started today, I am heading over to this gfreatl ittle men's prayer group at church. I joined a couple weeks ago and it was really just a great, small group of guys. I have been looking forward to going back since I left!

Last nite I gave a lead at a nearby meeting, that felt good. I love to get up and talk about every alcoholic's favorite topic: themselves! Well, it is a little nerve wracking, being the center of attention but I got over that soon enough. Once HP gets going, sharing His message through me I am fine. I actually do enjoy sharing my story, especially these days since I have so much to be thankful for. There was a nice crowd and no one left screaming from the room so that's good! Once things I've never gotten used to in this area is that they open the floor for comments after the lead is finished. So, there's this expectation that you'll leave 10-15 mins at the end of the meeting for comments. Well, I grew up in AA in Toledo and they most definitely do not give comments after the lead, in fact they announce at the start of the meeting that there will be no comments after the lead. I sorta prefer that because often times what happens is you get little mini-leads after the lead and the thing just goes on and on... Plus, of course with all my profound wisdom (BS, cough cough) I need those extra 10-15 minutes, LOL (just kidding!) I always take my talk right to the end of the hour in hopes of cutting down on comments and that usually does the trick, lol. Anyhow, it felt good to get up there and share, it's been awhile since my last talk.

Prayer for today...

God/HP/JC, thank You for another sober awakening this morning! Please help me help myself to stay sober and share God's blessings with those around me. Please help me be receptive to our discussion in prayer group this morning and if it's Your Will, use me to share Your Good News. God, I pray especially this morning for those people in Virginia who lost their lives this week, for their families, friends and the entire Virginia Tech community. Also, I pray for Your Mercy on the soul of the man who committed this awful crime. I especially ask Your Blessings on his family. Please use me today to follow the dictates of St. Francis and first carry out/share that which I long to receive through You. I pray for Your Healing Love and Strength for a young man in our cmmuinty diagnosed with Leukemia, he's in his 20's. Also, Glory be to Your Healing and much thanks on behalf of my friend Amy whom You've saved from certain death from a brain tumor. She's been taken off the terminal list. Thank You for this day and Your abundant blessings and msot of all for Your Son in who's name I pray, Amen.

peace be with you all!

G'morning Scott, I just noticed that you posted at 5:00 AM...what the heck is ANYONE doing up at 5:00 AM on a Saturday? LOL
The garage sale sounds like fun, one mans' trash and all that! Hope you have a productive day.
One time my daughter took part in a neighborhood garage sale, she ended up coming home with almost as much as she sold!!!

We don't really have any speaker meetings here for some reason. But I guess it makes it that more interesting when I travel because I get to go to speaker meetings on the road.

Maybe one day I'll get to hear you speak :)
