just another day in paradise!

This is going to be quite a day!

Here in a few mins I will hop in the shower and head over to my Men's Prayer Group meeting at church. We've been listening to this great book on CD by Scott Hahn "The Lamb's Supper." It's about the various aspects of the celebration of Mass (as much as I have been able to determine...) But it's been a really awesome meeting...

Once I get home from there, I will turn round and head over to the county jail for our weekly AA meeting for the guests at the county "hotel." That never fails to be an awesome source of hope for me, and often times for an inmate or two who is really coming to grips with his illness.

Then I dash home and pick up Ian and it's off to a nearby county fairgrounds and its a day of dirt, dust, loud engines, racing fuel, rednecks, tee shirts, (excessive beer drinking on the part of other patrons no doubt), greasy food, fun and lots of souped up and stock four-wheel-drive pick-up trucks! Its the annual 4 wheel drive jamboree!! A few of Ian's favorite monster trucks will be there, and hundreds of other trucks, mud racing, obstacle courses, all sorts of truck related insanity! My wife took Ian last year on a last minute whim (not having a clue what she was getting herself into, lol) while I was down in Houston training for my new business. Needless to say, Ian is addicted and has been talking about going back since he pulled out of the parking lot to come home last year...

Near as I can tell, HP has laid out a "paradise" level set of plans for today! The weather is supposed to be sunny, low-mid 70's, we got some mad money to blow from the garage sale, I got new batteries in the digital camera... we're ready to roll! And, being the dad of an ever changing 5 yr old, my expectations of Ian are officially at zero and ready to go with the flow...

a reading... "The best way to stop feeling that I am not good enough is to stop comparing altogether." "Little by little we come to realize at our meetings the much of our discomfort comes from our attitudes..." Courage to Change, May 19th

Prayer for today...

God/JC/HP, thanks for another sober day, overflowing with fun, sprirtuality and time alone with my son. (my wife thanks You as well!!) I pray that I might take an attitude of gratitude, low expectatuions and adventure throuigh the day with me today. I pray that I might be prepared to be a "contributing factor" in my morning meetings of prayer and recovery. Please if You see fit, use me to carry Your Message of Hope and Grace. I pray that MC have an aewsome race tomorrow, and keep her free from injury, that she might enjoy what she's worked so hard to accomplish. I also pray that she knows how proud I am of her! Also, a prayer for her family, that they might remain safe and sound wrapped in Your Grace and Love. I pray for my two MIA sponsees, that they might find You out there somewhere, soon before they have real trouble...

peace be with you all!

what an amazing lesson "The best way to stop feeling that I am not good enough is to stop comparing altogether." I love this and try to remind myself of this all the time

Yeah, love to see the annual 4 wheel drive jamboree!! Don't have monster trucks, mud racing, obstacle courses, all sorts of truck related insanity over here.

Enjoy your weekend, Scott.
