change...

Well, I got my call from Chase HR yesterday, got the job! My tentative start date is Aug 20th. So, now it's a mad dash to get my office shut down. And actually, that won't be too much trouble as I have already begun making preparations in hopes of getting this new career. It's a huge relief to get out of the brokering business at this point, due to the insanity in the sub-prime and alt-a mortgage markets. There are a lot of my current competitors going down the tubes both large and small companies. My current employer is well positioned to weather this thing but frankly I am just a little tired for the whole "evil mortgage broker" monniker. The folks in the small town markets where I work would much rather deal with their local banker, which I am about to become! yay! So now, I have a TON of stuff to get done in the coming weeks lol, on top of all the other things I have rolling. August will be the busiest month I have had in a looooong time. I love it!

I had my first of two classes on the Bible last evening. It's called "Intro to Scripture" and it's really just that. A basic intro to the Bible, what it is, who wrote it, when, why, how it's laid out, etc. And of course, since I am taking this class for credit to get my Catecetichal CCD Certification (say that one 3 times fast) I get to do a paper, due next Monday. I am going to highlight the differences (or at least try to) between the 4 Gospels in the New Testament. I think it's going to be really interesting.

Our HS Band Director popped a little surprise on me Sunday evening and asked me if I had time this week to help her out at band camp. Needless to say, I didn't hesitate for a second. Ever since moving to our little town, I have been dying to help out and teach again. The former band director was pretty much a stodgy, arrogant self centered weenie who wouldn't give a nice guy like me the time of day, lol. The new girl was right out of college, her first year was last year. She began playing in the swing band I play in, we hit it off and now I am helping out with marching band camp. It came at a good time really since I am not really busy with loans and the like. I can give her a few hrs each afternoon to work with the low brass/low reeds on their music and playing fundamentals. It feels great to be teaching a little bit again! fun!

This is going to be a fun month... busy but fun! Next month, I will be in full training mode with the new job and CCD begins on the 12th so, this is the time to get the extra praying and meditating going and prepare for the upcoming major changes in my life. I am excited, I love new things, new adventures and change!

prayer for today...

HP, God, JC, please help me remeber the most important thing in my life, my recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction and smoking addiction. Everything in my life today demands that I be sober and living to good purpose. Thank You for the blessings in my life today. I embrace the exciting and scary changes coming down the road... I know that You will be here with me, guiding me. All I have to do is ask, seek and knock and it will be given to me. I ask Your Blessing and Grace for my friends as they stuggle to end their relationship. I pray for them and their kids. I also ask Your Grace for my other friends who are expecting their first child in a few weeks.

may the peace of Christ be with you all...

Congrats on all the change and all the new changes that will be headed your way. One of Mitch's friends owns a mortgage co and Mitch use to work for him. However it is not in Mitch's personality to be a broker, and that is ok. It sounds like there are some wonderful opportunities headed your way.

Blog trolling and came across your site. I was working in a detox center that I'd gone through 6 times in 8 years before finally saying "OK, OK, I'll try the damn get a sponsor/work the steps" It saved my life.
And the God Shots (Better than any shot of liquor!)
I was blogging at night while the pts. slept and a lady called me. She was starting a new recovery magazine.
I told her that was a great idea and she was glad I liked it because she had been reading my blog and wanted me to be the editor of it!
Our first issue - with 10,000 copies - came out July 27!
You can read it on the online version at: www.itsallinthejourney.com
Let me know what you think of it & submit a story or poem, bro!
peace
PS I've met God. Nice guy.
PSS I clicked 'Post Comment' but this acme back, so if it is posted twice -- Sorry!
