The weather has broken, we're in for sunny and temps in the 70's the rest of the week at last! I love springtime :-)
My friend Jaime lost her mom Sunday. I wish there was something I could do but we're a few hrs apart and there's really nothing but a cell call and a text message for us. I have been praying, I lit a candle at church for them and I will continue to do so. i don't have a clue how Jaime is getting through all of this. First she loses her fiance to cancer in November, now her mom passes after fighting cancer for several years. Jaime is a strong girl and has a very positive attitude and lots of faith that everything is happening for a reason. These things will see her through, I have faith in that.
I may hit the noon meeting today, probably wouldn't be a bad idea since I don't get to too many meetings these days. I have to focus on the content of the meeting and not the content of the characters, and just see what I can add to the meeting. There is plenty of new sobriety ther and I need to be around newly sober people for two reasons. One reason is that I need to be reminded of what it was like, lest I forget. And two, I am missing an opportunity to possibly be of service if I am not there. I have a responsibility to give back what was freely given to me.

Sorry to hear of your friend's loss. And speaking as a "newbie" it's invaluable to us newly sober members to have the experience and wisdom of those who have walked this path before. Enjoy your springtime weather- we are having 70 today in Wisconsin too! See miracles do happen :)
"lest I forget..."and "be of service...". Yesterday at the noon meeting a women stumbled in who had been in living hell the last few years because according to her she did forget.
I remembered her from her twenty years of sober living and service, she was a counselor.
I was the only familiar face from the past and I was able to hug and welcome her back.
Great experience and reminder for me.

So sorry to hear about your friend. Sometimes we just need to get to a meeting. It seems like when I feel that way, I often hear something that I really needed to hear. Take care.
It's sounds good that you are getting to a meeting. I always feel better after having been at one.
