getting in the middle of the bed...

Happy Administrative Assistant's Day to all you Admin Assistants out there! Our Chamber of Commerce is holding an appreciation luncheon and I have to get my rear in gear to get it set up, so I must be brief. My admin asst is going to get Fri off, paid only she doesn't know it yet. She has kicked major butt putting together most of the details for this luncheon and she deserves a reward (imagine the irony of my admin gal working her ass off to celebrate admin asst day lol). I know she would appreciate that alot more than a nice flower arrangement.

At counseling yesterday our gal suggested that I take more time to get quiet and focus on me, my needs, my heart and God. The signs of being a bit too busy are just beginning to creep in with me, and this is a timely suggestion. It's so easy to get off balanec,a nd I know I have blogged about it on numerous occasions but when we're stuck in our own head, our own perspective these things have a tendency to creep up on us. Such is the value of "seeking professional help."

Of course I know I need to not lose touch with God and Spirit. I know I need to make time for my own mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. However, knowing and doing are two different things altogether :-) So, we have meetings, counselors, sponsees, sponsors to keep us "on the beam." Today, I am immersed in recovery. People who know me can help spot issues often times before they even happen. That's the value of a "we" program.

So, I am going to continue blogging, reading and all of that. However, I will also carve out a bit more time for God and me, sans computers, mp3 players and TVs. At 14 years sober, I am NOT immune from straying off the path. I still need help, I think we all do, to varying degrees. Thank God I found AA for that's where I've learned most of these life saving lessons.

It is good to have some time away from the computer and to carve out more time to just be.

When things get to busy and I get off track I suddenly am reminded, "Be still, and know that I am God". Being still is good for the soul.
