ready for some fun?

Last evening was the first night of CCD (religious education classes, for those of you non-catholics in the house...). I teach a jr high section and a high school section each Wednesday night. The first couple weeks are always tough, trying to get the kids back into the grove and get them engaged. Almost none of them want to be there (church is a tough sell these days) and a few of them think it's appropriate to give the CCD teacher a difficult time. So, we always have to remind them how to behave and all of that nonsense. Last night was pretty much the usual routine, lol. Suffice it to say I was pretty well whipped when I got home at 9:15 pm, lol.

This weekend marks the beginning of my real estate classes. I plan to become a licensed realtor this fall, which involves me driving to Columbus (about 100 miles one way) every Saturday and Sunday for four weekends in a row, with a few weekday classes sprinkled in for good measure. Classes will be complete by the end of October, I can test and get my license in November. I am excited about all of this, but it's going to make for a very hectic schedule for a couple months when you factor in work and my gig as the high school asst. marching band director with football games and band contests.

Why does a supposedly sober and sane person do this to himself? Well, for starters, he doesn't earn enough money at his primary job (which he loves, by the way). So, he takes small teaching gigs for extra income and to feed his passion for helping youth, teaching and music. (not to mention that music education degree he earned) Once we get through the licensing phase, band will be done as well so, come November we'll experience some semblance of normalcy once again.
It's all just a matter of taking care of myself spiritually (pray, write get to AA meetings and Mass), eating right (doc says I need to lose weight, surprise!), and living one day at a time. God and I can do this!

Of course, one result of all of this is that you get up and post before me. LOL
Stay as busy as you wish, remembering to take care of your spiritual needs first.

Doctors always want us to lose weight, don't they? And I've seen some pretty fat doctors!

(But not my doctor, of course - she's a petite lady!)

Whew...you will have a busy schedule but with your passion for the things that you do, that should be easy! Enjoy it all.
