Well, I've come to an exciting place in my life and I want to share it with my readers.
Tomorrow I sit for the State of Ohio Real Estate Salesperson Exam. I've been through 120 hours of classes over the past couple months and have been studying and preparing for the test over the past couple of weeks. I'm confident and ready! I don't really have any worries about passing, I just want to go take care of business tomorrow morning and get it done.
I've been in real estate since 1996 (about 6 mos into sobriety), in the mortgage industry. I left the industry in August of 2009 when the chamber of commerce gig became available. Mortgage lending had become such a nightmare, I welcomed the change of pace and lack of stress with the chamber of commerce. Plus, I get to simply sell, market, network and help others... a dream job! But, as wonderful as it is, it doesn't pay the bills, hence the decision to call upon my professional network and background and become a realtor.
What does all of this have to do with sobriety? Well, this is just another big decision I've prayed about. This represents an opportunity for me to grow as a professional and grow as a person, which is what my sobriety is all about. I love that I can make decisions, I can pray, reflect, talk to "mentors" and trust my intuition now. All of that comes as a result of growing in sobriety through the program of AA. And, having said all that, I am extremely grateful for the blessings I've received as a result of getting and staying sober.
These are some sary economic times we're in that require folks to be inventive, quick acting, calm and creative. AA and recovery have helped me be able to cope with the challenges life throws at me without drinking. I can't say I don't get stressed, and concerned but I no longer have the need to create additional chaos and bring my whole world down around me through my behaviours. Life is good today, thank God!
This is my Tuesday Truth. What's yours?

Best of luck, I know you will pass :) My Tuesday truth is the same as yours : Being able to use the tools that AA teaches us to survive in an ever changing environment. It's an awesome place to be....

Just because.
I am glad for you. You were prepared. That is really awesome!
This was a very inspiring post to me--so uplifting, Scott. Congratulations to you for all your hard work leading now to a real estate license. Praise God that He has lifted you out of alcohol addiction and filled you with joy and motivation to be all you can be. Oops, that's an Army slogan, but it works here, too.
