Finally back at it...

I awoke this morning to the sounds of a summer thunderstorm, bringing some much needed rain. And so I found myself finally inspired...

"Waking debate..."

Summer rains fall without caution or care,
suspending baseball but no worse for the wear.
God's tears nourish plants, animals, earth
as we arise from our dust, from lack, no more dearth.
We welcome this respite from sun's smile so warm,
to turn over once more, pay no heed to alarm.
But alas, I must move my weary old bones,
for the rain has me thinking in bed here alone.
My day has begun, my work it awaits.
I cannot dally long, I'm afraid I'll create
a swirling, impatience up in my mind
that causes me to pause and consider so blind
this rain to be less than the blessing, a sign.

Welcome back! And a poem to boot! Your final lines made me smile. I can also go from zero to nuts in ten seconds.

Scott, somehow I've been missing you for a long time...but here we are. You? A poet? Did not remember that! But are we not all poets, who admire God's work...everywhere

Nice short piece. In S FL we are in drought condition. Happens every year. Then a few months we will be drowning in our own water table. 46 years of this--I knowthe drill--grin! Have great sober day, Sir!
