100th post!

Who'd have thunk I'd have stuck with this bloggage for 100 posts and 5 and a half months?? Well, it's thanks to the peeps I have met online, who are too many to name, y'all know who ya are, ya keep coming back to read my stuff. Thanks, y'all have greatly impacted my recovery and my life, and I am grateful to have met you all...

Sober Chick comes purring along in my last post and says: "A crisis free life needs a kitten!" That is just too funny!! I don't know if my wife feels that way! I would almost prefer another puppy for Cosmo to play with, rather than a kitty... I am just not sure how my JRT (chicken shit that she is...) will do with a kitten. Cosmo is pretty into being the only one vying for our affections! Who knows!

A Father's Day story!

Thanks for the Happy Father's Day wishes, they came true. We went over to Indiana to hang with some friends (my sponsee and his wife) who rent this cute little cottage on a pretty little lake each June for their vacation. We took a chance, with the weather forecasting thunderstorms and such. Well, Ian had such a blast last yr when we went for 3 days, we had to take him, even if it was only for a 1 possibly rained out day. I was all set to bag the whole thing and go to Toledo to see my dad, and my wife sort of made it known that she felt we really should go and chance it despite the radar and the forecast, the obvious fact it was going to rain... Rather than pick a stupid battle, and against MY better judgement, we went ahead and went to the cottage... I let her think "we" decided to go, and off we went. It was raining off and on thru the 2.5 hr drive, and was raining when we arrived. Rather than be a butthead and impose my assinine "I told you so" ISBC resolution, I kept my trap shut and decided that I wasn't going to ruin this day by "being right." Well, good thing I didn't, the rain stopped, we suited up and ran across the street (literally 30 yds from the cottage) and went swimming for over an hour. About the time we decided we'd probably had enuff, it began to rain. So, thanks to HP for clearing us a little swimming time, to make our trip a success in the eyes of my 4 yr old son. Thanks also to HP for the previously learned lesson of the importance of not being right... Also, thanks to HP for his sense of humor... (yes, this gets way better!)

We came in, dried off, and proceeded to lounge around (cuz it's what ya do at the lake/cottage) and I fell off to sleep on the couch on the breezy front porch (superb!!). Well, my wife, in her sweet way decided that I ought to have time for a snooze (being Father's Day and all, and having sort of called all the shots all day, despite telling me "it's your day we can do whatever you want.") She took Ian for a nice relaxing walk around the lake (about 3.5 miles to circle the lake) to look at all the nice homes and cottages, etc. Well, I am snoozing, enjoying the peaceful sounds of the lake lapping on the shore, the breeze thru the big cedar trees out front, the smells of summer, the pitter patter of rain, the now steady veil of rain falling, the distant, no wait, getting closer rumble of thunder... I awake... hmm, where's everyone? I stumble in off the screen porch to find my sponsees wife engrossed in a book... I ask the obvious question: "Where is everyone??" "Oh, your wife and Ian are still gone on their walk," she giggles "and Karl went to find them, since it is storming out!" I have to laugh at this point... She insisted we come up here, she tried to make it a great trip for me and Ian, and she gets stuck out in a thunderstorm for all her efforts. Well, eventually a couple of nice young men stopped and picked them up and brought them back to the cottage. Of course, she forgot to take her cell phone on the walk, and Karl and I had each taken turns making trips around the lake in our cars to go find them. I was a little worried, fearing that some freaky "lake people" might snatch them up, but in the end we all had a good laff... They got soaked to the bone, but it was a warm rain, and it didn't get real nasty or violent out there.... So, thanks HP for the sense of humor! I kept my mouth shut, we had a ball... I love it when I am given the wisdom to know the difference, and the courage to change the things I can (me). We went out for dinner, then some frozen custard, and drove back home exhausted, peaceful and glad we went. Thanks HP for a nice Father's Day! I guess it is ok sometimes, to just go with the flow!

peace

It feels good to stop resisting and be in acceptance. We get that wonderful breath of fresh air.

Happy 100th post btw! That is very cool.

As 4 kitty, they can really hold their own. I was not a big cat fan, at all, all my life. My last relationship helped me with this, I did not want it but somehow God (looking back I know today it was God) put this little kitten in my life for a very shorty amount of time. I bottle fed her, loved her, she broke me and tested all my paitence. I learned so much. Then God took her away -- my heart was crushed. However, today I foster kittens when the chance provides and have 4 BEASTS of my own.

ANyow, I am still rooting 4 the kitten. HOWEVER, a puppy may be fun too! So many animals need homes, hopefully one will find its way into your home soon.

Big Hugs!
