grace dust for all...

Last nite at home group, we had a newcomer... It was very kool because of course, we discussed what it was like and what happened (that which brought up to and kept us coming back to the program). I love when we have newcomers... especially young people!

I was gonna post yesterday, but I didn't feel much like it and when I hopped on the blog site, it was acting all goofy so I blew it off. Sorry bout that... I have been fighting off some sort of cold/sinus infection rather unsuccessfully so my levels of motivation and energy aren't what they should be.

It was great to get that first closing done Tuesday. Everything went well, the borrowers were pleased, the realtors happy... It's all good! So, time for more! I have this collection of customers right now that are interested in purchasing, but aren't terribly motivated. So, it's like I am excited to have qualified borrowers and all, but they are moving quite slowly through the process (slower than normal I should say...) I am not one to pressure people, especially since we're talking about a huge investment but, I do find it difficult to be patient when I have someone who is well qualified, who can afford to purchase, but just won't pull the trigger. So, I stay in touch, do all the legwork at my end, and be at the ready when they are. in the mean time, I need to get more customers into the pipeline... Last week alone I had three good borrowers decide to hold off for now. The good thing with that is that I have planted the seed, given them accurate information they can use and will hopefully get a chance to work with them when they are ready to go. Those are the kind of deals that come "out of the blue" right when you could really use that extra loan to set up a great month, or bail out and awful month. So, while I am anxious to close as much business as I can right now, the work I do now will probably pay off at some future point. That's what it's all about! Anyhow, speaking of needing more customers... I need to do some work towards that end!

Prayer for the day...

God/HP, thanks for another day sober. Thanks for helping me to remember each day that the most important decision I have ever made is my decision to not take a drink or drug today. Everything else depends on that. HP, thanks for using me to carry Your message of Hope last evening when that young newcomer came in early, while I was making coffee... He thought the meeting began at 7 pm when it starts at 7:30. And here I was at first annoyed when I saw the error in the schedule, lol! God, I pray for Your Will and Your Grace for this young man as he explores his life, past and present to discover whether or not he is powerless over alcohol. I pray that he have the courage to face the facts about himself, and that he comes around long enough to figure things out... I am grateful that You put the alcoholics in our home group last nite that carried Your message so truthfully and lovingly. I am so grateful I was there to see and experience Your Grace at work. Some people think You "choose" them to get sober in AA. I believe that You make Your message available 24/7 to those who are prepared to hear it, and do something with it. It's as if You sit Up There sprinkling Your Grace Dust all over us here on earth and those who reach for it are able to use it and stay sober a day at a time. I believe recovery is there for anyone who wants it, and I am grateful to You for sprinkling Your Stuff on the day I needed it most Jan 28, 1996. Thanks for using me to scatter Your Grace Dust...

peace to you all.... God Bless Cliff...

I appreciate when you do have a moment to blog. It is nice to take some time out and for yourself and feel better physically.

I am thankful that you are here to greet the newcomers.

At my home group meeting the other night I was doing the chips and welcomed back 3 people. I wouldn't have traded those hugs for anything in the world.
I see you,
JJ

I read this this morning: (sorry its long, but it fits)
Newcomers stand between me and the next drink as no one else does.
They show me the shark-infested waters.
They remind me that my disease of alcoholism is never, never a static thing.
Each new person shows me another face of this disease and the powerful delusions waiting to bring me down.
So I go into First Step meetings to drink in their despair and confusion.
I sit as a student learning a subject whose truth I cannot afford to forget.

Oooh -- Grace Dust!! I like that concept.

I always love the prayer portion of your posts the most, Scott. You're so candid. Thanks for sharing this with us, as well as God. :) (((hugs)))
