1st Day of School!

Well, Ian starts kindergarden today! He has been going to pre-school for two years, so I don't think mommy and I will be terribly emotional, nor will he be too scared. But, it's still a big day! Thankfully, I am "between jobs" as I don't start at the bank until next Tuesday and my office is officially closed down. So, I can go to school with Ian and mommy. Today is just a 2 hour orientation, school tour, meet the teachers/students thing. We've already done a 2 hr pre-screening day and he had a half day "kinder-camp" a couple Saturdays ago. They do a nice job of easing the little ones into the groove. I just cannot believe he is already going to the "big school" as he puts it. Time sure flies, and I can see why the people around here love having 4-7 kids. They get to continually re-live all these great moments. However, with all those kids comes the re-living of all the not so great moments. One is plenty for us! :-) This is all because I met his mom in a AA meeting... and now look at us, a whole life together... all because Bill made that decision in the lobby of the Mayflower Hotel in Akron. Kinda freaks me out sometimes...

Shannon- Thanks for trading postcards with me, I got yours a few days ago! I apologize for not letting ya know sooner, I have been busy this week tearing down the office, etc. I think it's really kool to get a postcard from one of my sober peeps! Very kool indeed! And, if anyone else wants to exchange postcards from their hometown, shoot me you address in an email: smfloan@gmail.com and I will shoot you my address back!

Gratitude...

for the new career opportunity...
being sober...
that I got the grass mowed before Tuesday evening's deluge of rain...
my son and wife and doggie (I hugged Cosmo for ya Christina)...
our new fishkeeping hobby...
good health...
fresh tomatoes by the ton...
pretty summer flowers in vases around the house...
catechetical preparation classes...
CCD classes begin in a few weeks...
musical gifts from God...

placing myself in the presence of God...

God, please help me stay sober today, and thank You for all the blessings in our lives. Thank You for leading me to my wife, and all that's come as a result of us meeting. Thanks for the opportunity with the bank, and for giving me the sense to jump on it, and not keep plugging along with my own business out of pride. I pray for Your Blessings and Grace for all the people struggling with their mortgages/foreclosures, etc. I also pray for my sponsee and his wife, who are about to have their baby tomorrow. Thank You God for calling me to be a catechist. I have put off being a musician and a teacher for long enough. Thank You for easing me back into my calling. I apoligize for trashing all that with my drinking and drugging.

may the peace of Christ be with you all...

Oh I cried so much on the 1st day of school for all three of my kids, and then my grandson too!
If I had known they were all going to be teenagers one day, I would have celebrated back then :)
I'm proud for ya....it is a BIG DAY..
