it's been awhile

I haven't posted all week, been busy at work, at church, etc. Monday the bank was closed in honor of Veteran's Day and so the fam and I piled into the car and took a nice little drive to go do some hiking/walking at a place we've been wanting to stop and visit for a few years now. Each time we drive to WV, we go right past this place and never have time to stop. Well, since we had the day off, I thought why not!

There's an old historic mill along this river at the one end of the gorge and all kinda of nice walking/hiking paths... Once we finished up with that, we took Ian to the toy store with the big giraffe (which shall remain nameless) to spend a birthday gift card that had been burning a hole in his little wallet. Then it was a nice dinner and drive home. We haven't spent a day out doing stuff together in a loooong time. Even Ian enjoyed himself on the hike. I think the key there was not telling him about the toy place until we were in that parking lot lol.
prayer for today...
God/HP, thanks for another sober day, and a wonderful day off last Monday. It was the best we've spent together as a family in a long time. Please help me to slow down just a bit, and hopefully enjoy more time with my family. Please help me be patient and tolerant and put a positive, optimistic foot forward this week with my family at Thanksgiving. I pray that I remember and share all that I ahve to be grateful for, especially You.
may the peace of Christ be with you all...

That place looks magical. It reminds me of home in KY.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
