the floor is open for discussion

Last nite at home group, we had a guy there who was newly sober, doesn't even own a Big Book (he does now). We had a guy there celebrating his 5 month anniversary, and we had our recent newcomer/regular fellow there, fresh off another binge. Needless to say, there was no shortgage of discussion topics. Mr. 5 month talked about how he's incredibly angry all the time, all of a sudden. Well, there's a sure fire way to get a bunch of drunks talking about stuff they can relate to! I know I can sure relate to having had some major anger issues (still got some...) The brand new guy professed to us how he'd decided back in June that he was done drinking for the rest of his life, and he'll never have another episode like the one he had with his last drunk. That got some guys sharing, lol. Needless to say, we had a lively discussion. There's nothing like a batch of newcomers to inject some energy into a meeting! We've been blessed to have a steady trickle of new men at my homegroup the past few months... I am grateful God helped them find us.

Today I get to play golf for the first time all summer. Some of us bank people are playing in a fundraising outing put on by a local realty association. So, while I get to be out of the office most of the day, I also get an opportunity to do a bit of networking with some potential "clients" among the realtors that will be there. It's supposed to be up in the 90's this afternoon so I'll be hydrating. I'm just glad to get away from my laptop for awhile. This summer has been a real challenge as far as mortgage lending is concerned... Tomorrow, I have two closings! You just have to love a "double-bagger" Friday! YAY!

peace to all who enter...
