home again, home again

The trip went well... We got home safe and sound Wed nite and it's been off to the races ever since lol. I had a job interview within 90 mins of arriving home Wed nite, big band practice Thursday nite, exhaustion Fri nite and work this morning then off to a family reunion 2 hrs north in Toledo. Mass will be very peaceful and relaxing tomorrow morning IF I manage to haul my tired butt out of bed in the morning.
The wedding was beautiful, their Mass was very emotional and full of love and celebration! Minneapolis was amazing, as was the trip thru Wisconsin. The Mall of America was overwhelming, mainly in a good way lol. All in all, it was a great trip, just pretty well tiring with all the driving and the family and the get togethers, and the go, go, go.
On our way home from the family reunion, my wife and I began a discussion about the "Law of Attraction" as presented by people like Eckhart Tolle and Dr Wayne Dyer, sort of along the lines of "The Secret." She's a firm believer that we attract what we think most about, what we give the most energy to. Now, I think that "The Secret" contains some great concepts and principles, the presentation seems a bit oversimplified, sensationalist and somewhat hokey. But, I cannot deny the fact that there's some truth to what they are getting at. Christ even teaches us that we become that which we think about. So I think there's something to this "Law of Attraction" of some significance.

Ian even got into the conversation some, which was really kool. The whole thing really evolved into doing right and doing wrong, and that we have the free will to choose our reactions and our actions.
What do you all think??

I think the law of attraction is suspect but I wholeheartedly agree that we can choose right and wrong and how we see it and react to it.

What gets muddy is how we handle those who do against us. That's a trickier slope to climb.

I like your word.. hokey!! :)

Welcome back.

Glad you had a nice time at your family function. I avoid all new age spirituality like the plague.

I have free will. God would not have it any other way

I always test these things against whether it makes any sense in a country say, like Ethiopia, where people have starved to death. And when it doesn't make any sense there then I tend to think it's the privilege(?) of living in a first world country that we can even consider these things as truth. I do believe we can always choose our attitude.
