It's Sunday morning... I didn't have to get up at 5am, yay! We're headed to Toledo for the day to visit my family for Ian's birthday, my dad's birthday, my upcoming birthday, all that jazz... Just more whirlwind weekend lol

Last night I got in pretty late from the trip to marching band contest. the kids responded pretty well, played and marched well but we didn't get the results we'd hoped for with the judging. So, we've got more work to do to qualify for state. I think everyone was pretty disappointed in the result but felt good about the effort. We'll continue to work at it. The kids got to see some really great bands last night and I know that makes an impression on them. As directors, we're always glad to have the kids see bands that are where we want to be with regard to intensity, marching and playing ability and so forth. It's a process and a journey. We have a young band so it's no real surprise we're improving in small increments at this point.

I saw a couple friends from college, I hadn't seen in over 15 years. I dropped off the face of the earth after I got my music education degree so it was a bit of a homecoming of sorts to meet up with those folks and it was really good to see them. It's good to be "back in the business," so to speak.

I always like to read your enthusiasm for all you do. I love a good marching band, and you will help those kids be right where they want to be....
