I've been reading and reflecting on the same daily reflection all week. It's the November 15 reading from the "Daily Reflections" AA book. As is customary in the Daily Reflections, (November =11th month) they are taking a good look at Step 11: "Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him..."
The Nov 15th reading talks about how simple it is to have an ongoing, conscious relationship with our HP (my HP happens to be God/Jesus/Holy Spirit, for those of you playing the home game). The writer suggests that we merely seek God in those we encounter each day. What a great way to stay in constant contact with HP! I've noticed in my own occasional application of this practice that I tend to be less irritated with folks, more open to other ways of thinking, and certainly much more loving and understanding toward those around me. The net result of all of that is simple... my heart is more joyful and filled with peace.
Maybe there's something to this notion after all! I know that when I've done this, I've experienced a difference in every relationship in my life, especially with those I am closest to and most often take for granted. So for this week, I am focusing more on seeing God in everyone I encounter and being grateful for that manifestation of God in my life. It's a wonderful way to go through the day when I can keep myself focused on doing it.
I'm thinking that the more folks who adopt this attitude, the less strife and discord there will be in the world. ...just sayin' Give it a go!

I like what you wrote about seeing God in everyone you encounter. That is powerful stuff.
Staying in the moment AND trying to see the best in everyone- I'm OK with the first part, I'm working on the second...
occasionally I find myself getting dragged through the mud- Like last night when I was tired and our speaker kept going on about 'all he had been given'.
I got caught by 'comparing'. On the way home I talked to HP, and turned it around and over...
