bring it on Lash!

he he, ok lash.. I dunno what your handicap is, but I shot the best round of my life yesterday... 47 on the front (with a 7 on a par 3, yikes) and a 43 on the back for not only my lowest 9 hole score, but my lowest 18 hole score of 90... And, had I not flamed out on that par three I could've easily broke 90. So, now maybe you're shooting well in the 80's and all of my kick butt performance yesterday is meaningless. But, it sure felt great to finally get out on the golf course, play with three of my favorite people AND actually play also... That's only the 4th or 5th time out all summer. Two summers ago, I could barely break 55-60 on 9 holes. But, thanks to my 4 yr old son's addiction to hitting golf balls on the range (yes dAAve, we'll be hitting balls this weekend!), my handicap dropped from a 22 to 14 last summer. It's truly amazing what a little practice can do for your game...

It's also an added bonus to be golfing when 2 of the people I am out with are close friends in the fellowship. Golf is an excellent spiritual barometer for me. I can always tell where I am at with things, by my reaction to the "dark side" of my golf game. There were several occasions yesterday whenI could've gotten down on myself or mad over a particular shot or hole... HP and I didn't allow me to get upset, I/We were enjoying the day too much. And, lo and behold, I had a great round, a great time, came home and had a great evening as well.

Yesterday, Ian had the final party for his stroytime group at the library. They had prizes and food and stuff and well he won a gift certificate to the local Mexican restaurant in town here. So, he took us out to dinner, it was fun! We made a big deal about him taking mommy and daddy out, I had him come up and pay with his GC, it was too fun. We all took a long walk around town to walk off some of the great food... It was a great ending to a wonderful day. The extra bonus kool thing is that I was able to get a bunch of stuff done at work in the morning before I played golf, so I didn't even have to feel guilty about not being "on-task."

Today is the annual Fireman's Picnic here in town and Ian and I will be joining the fun with the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk here in about 90 mins. Then it's off to jail and back home for more festivities at the picnic... fun day!

Prayer for the day...

God/HP, thank you for Your continued Blessings and Grace in my life and the lives of my family/riends. Thank You for keeping me sober... I pray for Your Will in our lives, and most especially the lives fo those who ae struggling to get/stay sober. Please help me carry Your Message today in jail. Please help me maintain the positive attitude I have been enjoying of late; not by giving me my way, but by reminding me of the Blessings You give so freely...

I hate golf, and even I know that is a very good score. Congrats, and have a great weekend. Sounds so "Mayberry."

I broke 90 once.
But decided to quit while I was ahead and stop at 9 holes.
