January finally coming to a close!

Well, here it is, Jan. 31st, thank God! This has been a brutal month at work and at home. I am looking forward to February, in hopes of a bit more positive Karma here... I have a couple closings (thanks HP!) this afternoon, so I will have to be brief.

Thanks to the well wishers who came by and offered their congrats on 11 yrs, that's pretty kool. I will probably pick up a token tonite at home group! My wife gave me a Rosary Sunday that her aunt had gotten in Spain and given to her mom. So, it's been in the family awhile, and means alot that she would give it to me. Now all I need to do is figure out how to use it and learn the Rosary, lol! Last nite at RCIA, we covered the Sacrament of Reconciliation. (otherwise know as confession) Once again, another stereotype of the Catholic Church stricken down...

It's nothing like the grovelling, guilt ridden, punishment-based "confession" sometimes portrayed in movies or TV. It's really the same principle as our 4th and 5th Steps. We share our "sins" (shortcomings/resentments/character defects) with another human being in order to gain perspective, claim responsibility for ourselves and seek forgiveness and re-connection to our HP. The entire Sacrament is about healing, forgiveness and clearing away that which blocks us from God/JC/HP.

Prayer for the day...

God/HP/JC thanks for this day and everything in it... I am grateful for the gift of continued sobriety. Everything good in my life depends on me staying sober one day at a time and without You, it is not possible. Thank You for the part You played in somehow getting one of my loans to close today. I don't know how You did it, or what happened, but I know some buyers, sellers and a particular mortgage broker who are all really grateful! God, help me carry that attitude of gratitude into all my affairs today. I pray that I may not grouse over the fact that a bunch of my fees got cut from my other loan that's closing today. I am grateful that we could help those particular people get the loan done. They reallly needed this to happen. So, the way I see it, we have two divinely touched closings today. Thank You on behalf of all parties...

peace to y'all...

I was just talking to a friend about reconciliation/confession, and he compared it to the 5th step too. It makes much more sense seen in that light.
