Sunday gratitude

What a week! It's been a whirlwind, that's for sure. I've been back and forth to Dayton 4 times for training and various other stuff. Fri nite we went to the HS football game where Ian lost his first tooth. That was an exciting milestone. The thing just fell right out, pretty exciting, lol. Last nite I had a dance bang gig for a 50th wedding anniversary, that was fun. We're done until our New Year's Eve gig, nice time for a break there...

This morning after Mass, Ian and I head up to Toledo for my step-dad's family reunion. After that we'll head to my dad and step-mom's house to do dad's birthday, see Labor Day fireworks downtown, spend the nite and hit the Toledo Zoo tomorrow. It'll be a nice trip. Mama bear decided to stay home this time, as Cosmo is too welcome up there, plus she is helping to throw the baby shower for my sponsee and his wife in a couple weeks. So, she has a butt-ton of stuff to do.

The fullness of my life today, is due to the program of AA and my HP. I used to bo so afraid of people (based on the fact that I had become a large-type loser). Today, I love meeting people, love being a part of things. It is so important for me to remember where I came from and how I find myself where I am at today. I've gone from a drug addicted, poverty level living, self centered SOB ego manic with an inferiority complex with very few friends, living in a nasty little rental house in East Toledo to: a reasonably confident, sober, relatively serene, much less self centered ego maniac with a bunch of friends, customers, business network and acquaintences living in a modest little home in a great little town with my wife, son, doggie and fish. I am literally living a miracle life today, all and only because I got sober and found a relationship with God and now Jesus. I am so grateful today!

Prayer for today...

God, thank You for another sober morning, and for reminding me this morning how much You've changed me, how much You've blessed me since getting sober. I pray that I might never forget where I've come from, and how I owe everything to AA and You. I know in my heart of hearts that EVERYTHING in my life depends on me not taking that first drink. Everything that is good has come to me through You and Your Son. I pray that today, I am grateful, that I show my gratitude through my actions and attitudes and that I am able to transmit some of what you've given me.

may the peace of Christ be with you all!

The contrast between 'before' and 'after' is really crazy, isn't it?
