Tonite, we worked on the Lord's prayer in CCD. I'll tell ya what... trying to get 8th graders to share about their prayer life and about our faith is near to impossible lol. But, we worked on it, discussed it, shared, prayed... we tried. And, I can say that they responded more positively than they did to my last couple of classes lol. There's a handful of them that are mildly into it, sort of. They've been journalling back and forth some with some of our High School Youth Group kids this year, somthing new. Well last class I brought my kids journals home with me and journalled back to them. Tonite they read them and journalled back. I am looking forward to their responses. It's basically just a place where they can share about church, school, whatever.
Tonite at home group, we had our first newcomer in awhile. He was at his first ever AA meeting. I love those discussions about early sobriety, anger, our drinking habits, our struggles early on in recovery in AA. I gave him (well, my home group gave him) a new Big Book, a 12X12 and a fistful of pamphlets and old Grapevines. I cannot beear to see a new man leave his first meeting without the basic literature and I never ask them for money. I don't know if that's bad or what but I just want new people to have every opportunity to grasp the miracle of recovery. I wish I could tally up the numbers of books I have purchased or given away to newcomers. I just think it's important.

God, thank You for another sober day, another healthy day. Please, be with my young cousin Kyle, my niece Natalie, my friend Bill and my friend Mark's mom. Thank You for my job and for helping me to "re-invent" my attitude and business practices. I am grateful today for my job even though it has been a mighty struggle this past couple of years in the mortgage biz. I pray that I can continue my prayer life and continue to maintain efforts at a positive attitude and a healthier lifestyle with good food and exercise. Thank You for this day...

I personally dont think that is bad to give the new comer literature,and I dont think its bad to have them buy it themselves, depends on the situation.
I dig that you are getting kids (teenagers) into prayer and and discovering their faith!

chalk one up for the good guys -- those kids might well be turned on to continuing faith via your efforts. And it is nice to help the newcomer; likewise, to hear stories of ESH from others - especially others whose road was so egregious that it's a miracle they came out on this side.
My sober BROTHER. I too was at a meeting recently with a new comer. For me it was tough though it was my oldest son. I have prayed that someday it might find the tables, but never the less he made it. His mom has said she can not handle him so he is living with me. He is looking at 6 years in jail. Between that and my house which is alomst sold it has been stressful!!
But this fellowship and my HP have taught me its not worth picking up that first drink.
