Saturday Stuff...

I took off early from work yesterday to spend the afternoon with my wife and my son. We went shopping for stuff, and had supper at Red Lobster (had a gift card... and there's not many good alternatives for seafood out here where we live). It was nice to just hang out and enjoy one another's company and not have to worry about work and all that jazz. I couldn't do that before.

It's another beautiful cold crisp fall morning. I'll walk to the office today since my truck has issues. The right front wheel bearing is going out and it's a loud, awful sound. Thankfully, it's a warranty situation. But, the closest Kia dealer is in Dayton, an hour south. I am going to call and have them come get it for me. I hate being without it, but stuff happens and thankfully my wife has a little Toyota we can share.

Dale Carnegie taught me to speak to folks in terms of them, not me. He taught me to be forthcoming with praise and aprobation and mean it. He taught me that people are more interested in hearing about themselves than they are interested in hearing about me. He taught me to make everyone I meet feel that they are important. When I operate by these principles, and make them a part of who I am, it's amazing how much better I get through the day and how much nicer people seem, lol. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" is a wonderful book on how to live a sober life. The principles he teaches go hand in hand with what I've learned in the Big Book and at Church.

I've had a lot of folks to pray for lately... folks that are struggling with the loss of loved ones, or their own illnesses... HP knows who I am referring to, no need to go into details here. I just want God to help them be better, help them be at peace. I pray today that God might use me to be of service to these people.

Have a wonderful day!

Very good post. It's not about me, it's about you. Wonderful Dale Carnegie reminder.

Hi Scott, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog.

Dale Carnegie is the best. I wish I could afford one of the seminars! He is the ultimate salesman, but also good stuff for everyone, as you say. I like Catherine Ponder's "Dynamic Laws of Prosperity" It's a classic in the concept of "what goes around, comes around."
