way to go!

At marching band contest yesterday afternoon, our kids performed well, took third place for their class, won "best field commander" for their class, and received an overall II rating. (a I rating "superior" is required to advance to the State Band contest) It sounds to me like we came out exactly where I thought we might. I couldn't go, due to being in real estate classes all weekend so, I got my news via text message. I would imagine that the kids have to be feeling pretty good about things. Last year, at their first contest they got a III rating, so things are looking up! I am so proud of the kids, they've worked hard and will continue to improve.

Getting this band job has been a spiritual experience for me, for sure! I got my degree in music education (but blew my career due to my aclholism/drug addiction), I love teaching, I love music and working with the kids is just plain awesome. I feel blesssed to have been awarded the contract to work with the marching band and hopefully it will continue on ass a regular position each year. I am also hoping to parley this into some private lessons and tutoring.

I'm sitting in my real estate law class, barely awake after a nearly two hour drive. ZZZZZZZZ wish me luck lol. This stuff is dry. Thankfully, the morning lawyer instructor fellow is funny, fast paced and an excellent instructor. The afternoon guy is a nightmare, boring, dry, slow...
Ahhhh well, this will all be worth it in the long run :-)

peace to you all!

Glad that things are going well with the band. Hang in there with the dry lectures. I'm dealing with a bit of that in Engine Maintenance class.
